1. Sunscreen and Sun Protection

The Mediterranean sun can be quite intense, and sunburn can quickly ruin your trip. Pack a high-SPF sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Additionally, make sure to bring a wide-brimmed hat and UV-protective sunglasses to shield your face and eyes. Don't forget lip balm with SPF to prevent chapped lips.

2. Appropriate Clothing

Bring light, breathable clothing for the day and a warm layer for when the sun starts to go down. Especially in the early and late season, the heat of the day makes the evening seem much colder, especially if you’re travelling back on a later ferry from Formentera or heading back to port post-sunset. Quick-dry fabrics are ideal as they handle sea spray and water splashes well. 

3. Swimwear and Towels

It might sound obvious, but we wanted to make sure nothing was left off of the list! Ibiza's waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, so make sure to pack your swimwear. If you choose to wear it to go on your Ibiza boat trip, remember to pack spare clothing for afterwards. Additionally, quick-dry, microfibre towels are handy not just for drying off but also for lounging on the deck or beach if you have a swim stop.

4. Hydration and Snack

Staying hydrated is key, especially during the hot summer. Bring plenty of water, preferably in reusable bottles to reduce plastic waste. As you cruise Ibiza, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got something to snack on too. Consider packing a cool box to help keep your beverages and food fresh, especially for full-day trips. If you want to be hands-off in food preparation, consider grazing boxes or boat picnics from local Ibiza restaurants.

Ibiza's crystal-clear waters are perfect for snorkelling. Most private yacht charters or boat rental companies offer free snorkelling equipment, so you can explore the underwater world.

Don’t forget the music! If you're renting a luxury yacht for a day out at sea, they’ll more than happily provide the tunes, but if you want to set the tone for your excursion, make a playlist (and make sure it’s downloaded) before you embark on your journey.

Keeping Ibiza green is important to the island and its residents. Respect the marine environment by not littering and using eco-friendly products. Ibiza’s beauty depends on responsible tourism. Use biodegradable sunscreens, avoid single-use plastics, and make sure to dispose of your rubbish properly at the end of your boat trip. There are multiple recycling points in all of the island’s marinas.

11. Anchoring

If you are chartering and skippering your own boat for the day, learn the best spots to anchor around the island. Make sure you are familiar with the local regulations to protect marine life. Use designated anchoring areas to avoid damaging sensitive seabeds and marine habitats.

The Posidonia fields around Ibiza’s coastline help protect the island, as well as provide a habitat for many species, and the largest between Ibiza and Formentera has been declared a World Heritage by UNESCO.
